International team
International Project Team
Leading in this project are two ladies:
- Research: Kea Tijdens, research coordinator of the University of Amsterdam/AIAS and professor at Erasmus University, Rotterdam.
- Web management. Paulien Osse, director of the WageIndicator Foundation.
Kea and Paulien conceptualized the basic idea around X-mas 1999 and developed it ever since together. At the time Paulien was stil managing the combined websites of the Dutch Confederations of Trade Unions (FNV). Their first aim, a wage indicator that suits all: director, cleaning lady and truck driver alike. Their second goal: a wage indicator which traces gender/ethnic related wage gaps.
As for the international projects since 2004 Maarten van Klaveren beefs up research. And Dirk Dragstra assists on the web management side.
Tendayi Matimba is our financial manager since 2006.
Web management
Paulien Osse is responsible for the web management of the WageIndicators since 2001. She does the chatting, mailing, financial stuff, marketing and she talks with researchers, programmers, designers, data managers etc. She works hand in glove with Kea Tijdens of the University of Amsterdam. Together they invented the system.
Since the WageIndicators are going international Dirk Dragstra joined the web management team.
Irene van Beveren - journalist - is responsible for the Vip Pay check and Search Engine Optimization.
Since the 2008 the international teams is backed by strong regional team managers in Buenos Aires (Lorena Ponce de la Leon), Cape Town / Maputo (Karen Rutter/ Egidio Vaz Raposo) and Minsk (Taisa Bandarenka).
Scientific research
Kea Tijdens, research cordinator of the University of Amsterdam/AIAS , professor at the Erasmus University in Rotterdam, is responsible for the scientific part of the WageIndicators. She had the guts to start such a project in 1999, when e-science still had to be invented.
Her partners on the research team are Maarten van Klaveren and Melanie Hughie-Williams. Since end of 2006 Victor Beker from the ElSalario team in Argentina joined the international group for wage calculations. In 2007 Fikret Oez joined the team. His focus: the data set. Fikret also works for the Lohnspiegel.de team. In the same year Martin Kahanac and Martin Guzi joined from the Bratislava based institute Celsi.
Wage Calculations
Wage calculations are done by: Fikret Oez (Germany), Martin Kahanec, Martin Guzi (the rest of the world).
Technique questionnaire and salary checkers
The company Wyldebeast-Wunderliebe is the WageIndicator partner for technique from the very first day. The technicians are: Huub Bouma, Duco Dokter, Wietze Helmantel.
Data management
The highly specialized data managers are Sanne van Zijl, Anne en Sophie Plomp, and Ernst Schuurrman. Their joy is in code books, tables of occupations, industrial branches and questions. They jump over language barriers simply by coding the questions. Painstaking and scrupulous work. The data managers help researchers out by wiping the data clean for flawless use in statistical programmes like SPPS.
Design and applications
Nienke Dirkse is responsible for web design of the WageIndicator sites, since 2001. The team of Lorena de Ponce de Leon in Buenos Aires is- since 2009 - responsible for creating and designing web tools like DecentWorkCheck, PartnerCheck, Crisistest and recently the new homepage. Lorena works together with Yanina Ronconi and Julian Grigera.
Content management system
The content of WageIndicator is managed bij Plone. An open source system. Huub Bouma, Duco Dokter and Wietze Helmantel, WyldeBeast-Wunderliebe implemented Plone for WageIndicator. We like to use Plone mainly because it is open source and because it can handle all kinds of languages.
