Minimum wage changes in Uganda, thanks to WageIndicator debates - December 16, 2015

The Federation of Uganda Employers (FUE) together with the National Organisation of Trade Unions  (NOTU) have been organising a number of workplace and fact finding debates around the country since 2011. One of the prominent outcomes of these socalled Factfinding WageIndicator  debates has been the growing awareness around the issue of the minimum wage, which has emerged in nearly all the debates that have been conducted. FUE and NOTU engaged rigorously with the Ugandan government, resulting in the establishment of the Minimum Wage Advisory Board which was long overdue. In addition, FUE and NOTU have signed a Memorandum of Understanding to work jointly on a minimum wage survey and a number of workplace as well as national policy issues.
