Air France dropped a so-called ‘plan B’ for restructuring plan and job losses that triggered clashes with staff in 2015 in favour of limited expansion. In new plans outlined to the airline's works council, the French unit of Air France-KLM targeted growth in its long-haul network from 2017. The measures are conditional on greater productivity efforts from pilots and cabin crew. Net investments would exceed 1 billion euros by 2020. The airline said it would post a 2015 operating profit for the first time since 2008. In parallel, three unions have accepted proposals for the ground staff that include important job security guarantees and flanking measures for the planned restructuring. The company and the unions agreed on a policy of no compulsory dismissals, at least until 30 June 2018.
