Latvia - Unemployment rate rises - January 31, 2016

According to the State Employment Agency, the registered unemployment level has increased by 0.3% compared to the previous month to reach 8.7% of the economically active population of Latvia at the end of December 2015. In November 2015, the registered unemployment level was at 8.4%. At the beginning of December, 79,153 persons were registered as unemployed with the Employment Agency, whereas at the end of November there were 81,780 unemployed. In October and September, the registered unemployment level in the country was at 8.3%. Among the regions, the Riga Region had the lowest unemployment level at 5.4%, while Latgale province registered the highest with 18.5%.
