Is there a separate legislation relating to minimum wages in Angola? In Angola the working relations are now regulated by the Law 02/2000 of 11 February
Do one or more minimum wages exist that is/are determined by law? In Angola minimum wages are determined by economic groups. There are three main economic groups in Angola, namely 1 -Agriculture, 2-Transports, Services and Industry and 3-Commerce and Extractive Industry
At what level is minimum wages determined? Minimum wages in angola are determined at sectoral and national level. However, civil servants have a specific career and progression system
On what basis is minimum wage calculated? "As in most African countries, the minimum wage is defined taking into account the three basic criteria, namely: inflation, the monthly food basket and the country's economic performance. Earlier the minimum wage was made semi-annually but since 2002 it is done annually. "
Are governmental bodies, employer and/or trade union representatives involved in minimum wages setting ? Governmental body namely The ministry of public administration, labour and social security (Ministério de Administração Publica, Emprego e Segurança Social) is involved in the minimum wage setting. In addition, UNTA one of the major, largest and important trade union confederation is involved in the minimum wage discussion, together with other social partners.
How are upratings (adjustments) of minimum wage decided upon? The minimum wage uprating is decided after the consultation of the employer and trade union representative. The government has the last word after trade union confederation - UNTA and employers are heard

How frequently are the variable components of minimum wage updated? The variable component is updated in less than 1/2 a year. The update of the minimum wage takes into account many variables such as inflation, consumer price index and basket

There are certain items that are accounted for when determining the so called "decent living standards" This concept in Angola mainly refers to the minimum of the minimum that a human being should have in order to live, And most of the items that fall into this is solely food.
