2012 National Minimum Wage in Australia

Australia National Minimum Wage for the year 2012. Get current minimum wage for adult workers, workers with disability, junior workers, aprrentice and trainees.

Special national minimum wage 1: applies to disable adults where disability DOES NOT affect productivity $606.40 per week (before tax), or $15.96 per hour.
Special national minimum wage 2: applies to disable adults where disability DOES affect productivity They get a percentage of Special National Minimum Wage. The percentage is based on ‘assessed productive capacity’. For example, someone with a capacity of 70% would get 70% of Special National Minimum Wage 1 (ie. 70% of $15.96 per hour).
Special national minimum wage 3: applies to junior employee The minimum wage is a % of the national minimum wage and it reflects age as follows::
<16 years: 36.8%
16 years:   47.3%
17 years:   57.8%
18 years:   68.3%
19 years:   82.5%
20 years:   97.7%
Special national minimum wage 4: applies to an apprentice An apprentice must be paid a minimum of the following percentage of the standard rate of $ 15.96 per hour or $606.40 per week
1st year: 55%
2nd year: 65%
3rd year: 80%
4th year: 95%
Special national minimum wage 5: applies to a trainee who is not an apprentice Minimum wage varies with years of schooling. Currently it varies from A$ 272.40 – A$535.20 per week. The minimum wage for a trainee is set in schedule E of the Miscellaneous Awards 2010.
