Benin Minimum Wages
According to Article 210 of the Labour Code, the guaranteed minimum wage in Benin may be revised every 3 years or when needed.
In March 2009, the Guaranteed Minimum Wage (SMIG) increased to 31,625 CFA francs per month from 27,500 CFA francs. There was an increase of 15%. The Guaranteed Minimum Wage has not been revised since 2009.
According to the General Labour Collective Agreement no salary can be less than the Guaranteed Minimum Wage (SMIG). SMIG is fixed by Decree of the Council of Ministers on the report of the Minister of Labour after a reasoned opinion of the National Labour Council (Article. 60).
According to Article 210 of the Labour Code, the guaranteed minimum wage may be revised every 3 years or when needed.
