Summary:

In the three countries researched (Brazil, Indonesia, Zambia); in both Brazil and Indonesia women and young workers are more likely to earn (less than) the minimum wage as compared to men. For these two groups our results fit in with those of others, also for high-income countries. The results confirm that a statutory minimum wage or an increased minimum wage universally will work out most positively for women, in raising the bottom of the wage distribution, reducing poverty and also, under certain conditions, reducing the gender pay gap.
