Officially there is no minimum wage in Rwanda. However, in most cases it is the minimum wage contained in the 1974, 1973 or 1972 Labour Law which is being used. Since then, the minimum wage in Rwanda has been RwF 100.
Steps have been initiated by the government to address the issue to determine minimum wages for Rwanda. The National Labour Council has already passed the proposed minimum wage and submitted it to the Ministry of Public Service and Labour (Mifotra) for approval and publication.
In accordance with article 49 of the Labour Code, the usual working hours are 45 hours per week.
