The 1984 Minimum Wages Advisory Board recommended minimum wages.

New minimum wage rates are expected end of July 2015. Cabinet has approved Members to serve on Uganda’s Minimum Wages Advisory Board, which will undertake studies and make proposals about a minimum wage in Uganda, for Government’s consideration.
Different people pay different rates over and above the minimum wage. Since the minimum wage has never been changed or removed for a long time, it remains the minimum although it is now a very low minimum which is almost impossible for anybody to pay below it.
Workers are entitled to at least 1 day of rest per week (24 consecutive hours). (Section 51 of the Employment Act, 2006).
