Washingtonpost 24 Jan. 2012: Romney offered a partial snapshot of his vast personal income of $21.7 million in 2010 and an estimate of $20.9 million for 2011 - virtually all of it profits, dividends or interest from investments. NewYorkTimes 17 Jan. 2012: His fortune of between $190 million and $250 million makes him one of the wealthiest men to run for president in modern times. Most of his earnings are taxed at a 15 percent rate! Romney characterized as “not very much” the $374,327 he reported earning in speaking fees last year, though that sum would, by itself, very nearly catapult most American families into the top 1 percent of the country’s earners.
