Collective Agreements Database

Collective Agreements help workers secure good working conditions

Collective Agreements (also called Collective Bargaining Agreements or CBAs) are the outcome of Collective Bargaining, a process of negotiations between employees, employers and their representatives, such as trade unions and employers' associations. CBAs determine working conditions, wages and terms of employment.
Collective Agreements can:

  • Improve wages, working conditions and job security
  • Build trust between employers and employees
  • Enable worker participation and equality at work
  • Minimise labour turnover and disputes
  • Help enterprises and economies adapt during an economic crisis
  • Create resilient supply chains

WageIndicator hosts the largest CBA Database

Since 2011, WageIndicator has collected and annotated Collective Agreements from Africa, Asia, North America, South America and Europe. Our database currently consists of over 2,000 CBAs from 67 countries.

All Collective Agreements are entered in our database and coded to capture information on 11 indicators of Decent Work. Coding schemes are continuously updated to incorporate changes in the world of work, such as remote work.

Employees, employers, trade unions, employers' associations, NGOs and researchers can freely access and compare information from 2,000+ CBAs across WageIndicator websites.

WageIndicator undertakes numerous projects involving the collection and analysis of CBAs, including studying wages and COVID-19 clauses in such agreements across Europe, or studying CBAS across entire sectors in Europe, such as the metal sector.

Collective Agreement Analysis is also a crucial part of our DecentWorkCheck Projects, which assess awareness of and compliance with Labour Laws in factories.

You can access Collective Agreements from your country or unique Collective Agreements from the platform economy. You can also use our country-specific Model Collective Agreements for your own needs.

If you have any questions, or would like to get in touch with us for work relating to Collective Agreements, mail us at office@wageindicator.org.
