Members of the Rail, Maritime and Transport (RMT) union have organised a 48 hour strike in the London Underground and have announced further action for 5 May. While three other unions decided against industrial action, RMT members voted in favour of opposing the looming closure of every one of the underground’s ticket offices.
Members of the Rail, Maritime and Transport (RMT) union have organised a 48 hour strike in the London Underground and have announced further action for 5 May. While three other unions decided against industrial action, RMT members voted in favour of opposing the looming closure of every one of the underground’s ticket offices. Last minute talks mediated by ACAS failed to resolve the conflict as hours of discussion did not yielded any breakthrough. RMT members have also voted in favour of strike action on the Heathrow Express, where half of the workers are expected to lose their jobs in a reorganisation.
